Minecraft /ban Command

Adds a player to the server's blacklist (ban list), preventing them from reconnecting.

Version Compatibility

Java Edition:1.21.4 (1.13+)
Bedrock Edition:1.21.60

Command Syntax

Both Editions/ban <player> [reason]

Arguments Explained

playerSelector / Player NameRequired

The player or targets to ban.

reasonString

Reason for the ban, visible to the player when trying to connect.

Practical Examples

/ban HackerX "Unfair advantage / Cheating"

Bans player "HackerX" from the server with a reason.

Important Notes

Exclusive to multiplayer servers. Use `/pardon` to remove a player ban. IPs can be banned using `/ban-ip`.
